As with most medical disorders, the spectrum of severity seen in MAE ranges from mild to those more severely affected. Children mildly affected by MAE may find that their seizures are quickly and easily controlled with first-line medications. Those on the more severe end of the MAE spectrum may have difficulty finding an effective medication or treatment. All of the families you can read about here have found a successful way to treat their child's MAE, regardless of where he/she fits on this spectrum.
All of these families have at some stage struggled with seizure control. Through trial and error, with patience and determination, and under the supervision of their treating doctors, these parents have found a medication or treatment that has successfully controlled their child’s seizures. This may have taken months or even years but eventually they found something that worked.
